Connect to a Wireless Network in Windows XP:

  1. Click the Start Button.
  2. Click Connect To.
  3. Click Wireless Network Connection.

  1. In the Wireless Network Connection window, click View Wireless Networks.

  1. Select your network from the list and click Connect . If necessary you will be prompted for a password. Windows will take a few seconds to connect, and you are done.

NOTE: If you do not see the Wireless Network Connection window showing a list of available networks, and instead see a message stating that "Windows cannot configure this wireless connection," it usually means that a program supplied by your manufacturer, such as Dell's "Wireless Card Utility" program, is controlling your wireless card instead of Windows. Contact Faculty Desktop Support or your manufacturer if you need help using such a program, or see here for an example of how to use Dell's "Wireless Card Utility" program in Windows XP.
